Harbor Water Test Results The Eagle Harbor Water System has tested positive in a few individual
households for Copper. This
contaminates is not coming from the aquifer but would appear to be related to
corrosion at individual households.
The Water department will be conducting additional testing and
monitoring to try and identify the cause of the corrosion and make
recommendations. A certain amount of
metal absorption is normal depending on a number of factors including how
long water sits undisturbed in pipes. The cause of the problem may be directly related to improper testing
procedures and new tests are being performed to prove or eliminate this
possibility. What we do know right
now is that the PH is approximately 7.2 and the Alkalinity would appear to be
within an acceptable range. None of
this should be the cause of the corrosion.
As we learn more we will share this information. If you have copper pipes used in your plumbing and a sensitivity to
copper, or have young kids or are pregnant, it is recommended that you let
your water run for a few minutes to flush any contaminates that might have
accumulated in your plumbing prior to consumption. If you have any questions please talk to one of the Water
Operators, the DPW Manager or any Township Board member. EHT Water Quality
